Britney Spears‘ comeback performance at Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards was a bust as she lip-synched her way through her new single, “Gimme More.” With little enthusiasm, an untoned Spears tried to keep up with professional dancers who opened the show at the Palms Hotel and Casino.

Comedian Sarah Silverman griped, “Wow. She is amazing. She is 25 years old and she’s already accomplished everything she’s going to accomplish in her life. It’s mind blowing.”

Other highlights of the VMAs included a fight between Pamela Anderson‘s exes Kid Rock and Tommy Lee. Kid Rock was later cited by police for misdemeanor battery.

Rihanna won the award for Video of the Year, as well as Monster Single of the Year for “Umbrella.” Fallout Boy was named Best Group and Gym Class Heroes won Best New Artist.

Beyonce and Shakira won Most Earthshattering Collaboration for “Beautiful Liar” and Justin Timberlake won for Male Artist of the Year and Quadruple Threat Of The Year.
