Britney Spears has proposed marriage TWICE to boyfriend Jason Trawick – and he’s turned her down flat both times!
The "Gimme More" singer first tried to land Jason when she returned to California after wrapping the European leg of her tour at the end of July. At the time, Jason told Britney she was moving too quickly, according to a source.
Britney then popped the question again on Nov. 15 during a sail through Australia’s scenic Sydney Harbour – in front of her sons Sean, 4, and Jayden, 3, the source said.
The pop princess, who just completed the Australian leg of her "Circus" tour, thought Jason would finally agree to marry her if she made the proposal a family affair.
"In an attempt to pull at his heartstrings, Britney told him, ‘The boys love you so much, Jay,’" said the source.
"She thought that Jason couldn’t turn her down a second time with the boys in tow and being in such a romantic setting. But even though Jason adores the boys, he still couldn’t commit to getting engaged."
Jason, who is also Britney’s agent, wants to proceed cautiously for several reasons, says the source.
He believes that Britney is desperate to escape her father Jamie’s conservatorship – and that her feelings for him might not be genuine.
"Jason thinks that Britney is just dreaming of a perfect life with him because her personal life is not her own," explained the source. "He wonders if Britney will feel the same after the conservatorship is lifted."
Jason is also concerned that their professional relationship would fall apart if their romance failed.
