No more deadlines for the funny pages most famous reporter, BRENDA STARR.  The strip is getting canceled.

The red-headed sex bomb journo who’s globe trotting exploits  were created by  femme cartoonist Dale Messick in 1940 is being forced into retirement.

The current artist writing team, Mary Shmid and June Brigham, said it was time to -30- the long- running adventure strip.

The glam girl reporter’s exploits cross over into the film/tv mediums with Brenda Starr, Reporter, a 1945 serial with Joan Woodbury, a TV movie with Jill St. John (1976), and the 1989 feature Brenda Starr which starred Brooke Shields as the titular heroine and Timothy Dalton as her mysterious eye-patched love interest Basil St. John. 

RIP Brenda – no real reporter was ever as sexy as you.
