Ellen DeGeneres is urging Brad and Angie Jolie to abandon their pledge not to wed until gay marriage is legal.
The popular talk host and her wife Portia de Rossi met with Brad in New Orleans and advised him to wed Angelina, his partner of seven years, to make their kids happy, reveal sources.
“You guys can get hitched AND still fight the good fight for marriage equality,” Ellen assured Brad, according to a friend.
The dramatic meeting took place March 9 at New Orleans’ Bar Tonique. Ellen and Portia were on hand to help their friend Brad promote his Make It Right foundation, which is aiding the recovery from Hurricane Katrina.
“Up until that dinner, Brad had been torn over sticking to the wedding pledge and caving into his kids’ desire for them to marry,” said the friend.
Interviewed on Ellen’s show last September, the 48-year-old hunk declared: “I’ve said that we would not be getting married until everyone in this country has the right to get married.”
But earlier this year, the “Moneyball” star admitted to a reporter: “I don’t think we’ll be able to hold out…It means so much to my kids, and it means something to me too, to make that kind of commitment.”
Now there’s speculation that the big day may be sooner rather than later, with Brad reportedly freshening up his face with Juvederm and Botox treatments.
“Maybe he’s getting ready for all those wedding pictures,” said one Hollywood insider.
Meanwhile, Ellen, who wed Portia in 2008, “lifted a huge weight off Brad’s shoulders,” said the friend. “Now he feels he and Angie can move forward in good conscience with their wedding plans
