A Boston couple denied filmmakers access to shoot in their building when they heard Mel Gibson was involved .
Producers of policer Edge of Darkness were igiven the OK by the Beantown twosome but nephew Brain Keaney revealed the 411 on Gibson’s nix.
The couple was were upset by the anti-Semitic comments the Apocalypto director reportedly made during his 2006 DUI bust.
"The whole family’s very proud of them," Keaney stated.
"You can’t make comments like that and get away with it."
Director Martin Campbell is mounting the remake of the 80s thriller about a cop investigating the death of his activist daughter.
"I think the filmmakers might come to my uncle and aunt later and see if this has blown over," Keaney stated.
"But the answer’s going to be the same."
