1960s teen idol Bobby Rydell charged with DUI outside Philly.
Rydell famed for starring in Bye Bye Birdie with Ann-Margaret and a string of Number One hits including "Wild One" and "Volare" was unhurt when his 1967 Bentley jumped a curb, striking a wall.
Bobby, 67, said he had a couple of cocktails at lunch but was far from impaired.
But Police Capt. Bill Boegly said Rydell’s blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal driving limit, after the Aug. 17 crash.
Rydell is due in court on November 19th.
POP FYI: The High school in the musical Grease is named Rydell Junior High School after Bobby.
