Robert Wagner's love affairs are the stuff of Hollywood legend – Natalie Wood, Jill St. John – but who knew he was Barbara Stanwyck's boy toy?

Wagner, 78, blabs about his torrid four year affair in his new tell-all Pieces of My Heart.

Stanwyck, the star of such classics as Double Indemnity, Ball of Fire and TV's The Big Valley met Wagner on the set of Titanic in 1953.    He was all of 22 while she was 45 and fresh on the rebound prowl after an ugly divorce from thesp Robert Taylor (Ivanhoe).

The future Hart to Hart, Austin Powers star and "Missy", as Stanwyck was known to insiders, kept their affair secret from both friends and tabs of the era.

"I would say she gave me self-esteem," the aging lothario bragged.

But both actors were in demand and working constantly so Stanwyck finally bid adieu to her fresh faced Prince Valiant.

"I would always have been Mr. Stanwyck and we both knew it," Wagner wrote wistfully.

Luckily for Wagner, his ship didn't sink with that iceberg.
