Legally blind “American Idol” finalist Scott MacIntyre is in the fight of his life – literally!

Scott, 29, is in desperate need of a second kidney transplant to survive and he’s reaching out to friends and The National ENQUIRER to help.

Scott was diagnosed with kidney disease in 2005. The wife of Scott’s Arizona State University music teacher donated a kidney to him in 2007.While Scott was competing on “Idol” during the show’s eighth season, his younger sister Katelyn underwent a kidney transplant as well. Now, in an emotional email to pals, Scott wrote, “Seven years ago my life was saved by a kidney transplant. It’s because of that transplant, I was able to compete on American Idol, marry my wife Christina, and share my music and story around the world.

“But a transplanted kidney can’t last forever. Over the last couple years my kidney function has slowly dropped. My function is at 18%, and I now need a second kidney transplant.”

While Scott is on the “transplant waiting list” to qualify to receive a deceased organ, the wait is usually 3 to 5 years.

Before then, Scott fears, his kidney will hit the dread “zero mark”. “On dialysis, I would be unable to work, and my wife Christina would become my full-time caretaker,” Scott wrote. “The doctors are hopeful that I might be able to have the transplant much sooner if someone is willing to be a living kidney donor for me.”Scott is enrolled at the kidney transplant program at Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee.
