Bill Paxton — the Texas actor who found big-screen fame in hits like “Titanic,” “Aliens,” and “Apollo 13” — died at the age of 61 after complications following heart surgery.

The offbeat actor was also an Emmy-winner for his work in the TV mini-series “Hatfields and McCoys,” in addition to having a hit show on HBO with “Big Love.”

He had just began starring in the new cop drama “Training Day,” based on the hit film starring Denzel Washington.

Paxton played treasure hunter Brock Lovett in 1997’s “Titanic,” continuing his longtime work with director James Cameron.
