BIG BUCKS ORGY OF THE UNDEAD

Sick of fang banging, blood sucking vampire books, movies and TV shows yet?  No end in sight as vampires grossed $7 BILLION from films, books and TV!

The Hollywood Reporter says that despite apocalyptic thrillers, zombie attacks and the occasional visitation from King Scientolo himself Tom Cruise, vampires are generating more income than some big corporations.

Even an unfunny spoof film like Vampires Suck netted a $20 million opening weekend for Fox/New Regency and the Twilight franchise shows no signs of being staked.

According to the THR, here's Vamp$ by the number$:
Film: $3 billion, Publishing: $1.6 billion, Merchandising: $600 million, TV/ DVDs: $1.2 billion, Other: $600 million

Julia Plec
writer and exec producer of hit CW series The Vampire Diaries may have an explanation to the mass appeal of the undead.

"By starting with one simple mythological creature that's been part of our literary universe for centuries, you can create a story that has it all: romance, horror, action, special effects, sex, epic love, wish fulfillment, romantic leading men, delicious bad-boy villains, female bad-asses, damsels in distress, death, monsters and, ultimately, the perfectly flawed hero who would give it all up if it meant they wouldn't have to spend eternity alone.

"It doesn't get more universal than that."
