BEN AFFLECK is smoking-hot these days – but he’d like to take the “smoking” part out of the equation for good!
The screen hunk got hooked on cigarettes again while making his hit movie “Argo,” sources say, but he kicked the habit after a stern talking-to from his wife, actress Jennifer Garner.
“Jennifer wanted her family to come from West Virginia to Los Angeles to celebrate Christmas with them and their kids,” a friend told The ENQUIRER.
“But she told Ben, ‘I’m not going to have you sneaking outside every 20 minutes and coming back smelling like smoke. I’ll tell them not to come before that happens.’
“Ben got the message and went to a hypnotist to quit.”
It wasn’t the first time that the 40-year-old Oscar winner sought out a hypnotist to stop smoking. Sources say he gave up a 15-year, pack-and-a-half-a-day habit with a hypnotist’s help in 2005.
But the actor/ director has relapsed several times, most recently while playing a chain-smoking CIA agent in “Argo,” the sources add.
“Ben says he was always nervous, and he stopped biting his nails when he started smoking,” noted another friend. “But when he quit smoking, he started eating a lot and gained weight. It’s been a vicious cycle since then.”
