Beloved star of 1960s Beach Party films dead at 74!
Jody McCrea who was alternately known as Bonehead or Deadhead or Goo-Goo in the Frankie Avalon & Annette Funicello flicks of the 1960s died from cardiac arrest April 4 in New Mexico on his ranch.
McCrea appeared in over 90 films during the course of his long career and is the son of actors Joel McCrea (Sullivan’s Travels) and Frances Dee (I Walked With a Zombie).
McCrea retired from acting in 1970 but his most memorable role in the AIP teen flicks was Beach Blanket Bingo where he romanced mermaid hottie Marta Kristen later to be Lost in Space and "Sugar Kane" future Dynasty star Linda Evans (pictured)
His deft comic timing and good nature made him a joy to behold in his second-banana "moron" roles.
