“The Bachelorette” hunk ARIE LUYENDYK Jr. is a speed demon on and off the racetrack – and he has the mug shots to prove it!
The 30-year-old race car driver has the pedal to the metal in his drive to win the heart of pretty blonde Emily Maynard on the hit show, but his bold ways on the streets have resulted in a string of driving offenses and arrests, according to court papers uncovered by The ENQUIRER.
The Scottdale, Ariz., resident has not only been popped for multiple speeding tickets, he was arrested twIce in one week – and jailed both times – for other driving infractions in 2008!
“Arie is a traffic menace to the cops in Scottsdale,” a source told The ENQUIRER.
He’s been ticketed for breaking several traffic laws, including speeding, dangerous lane change, following too closely, driving on a suspended license and failure to provide proof of insurance.
According to court records, Arie’s driver’s license was suspended in 2007 because he failed to appear
in court for a speeding ticket. Then, in Oct. 2008, he was arrested twice in the same week – first for driving while his license was suspended and the second for not having a valid registration.
Although he faced a six month jail sentence and/or a $2,500 fine, Arie pleaded guilty to the suspended license charge along with failing to appear in court and received a $260 fine. Ironically the pro racer was also ordered to complete a defensive driving course!
Driving fast appears to be in Arie’s blood – his Dutch father Arie Luyendyk Sr. was a two-time winner of the Indianapolis 500.
Although Arie Jr. hasn’t had the same success on the racing circuit, his good looks and personality earned him a slot as a racing analyst on NBC Sports Network.
But being a race car driver may count against him when it comes to romancing Emily.
As The ENQUIRER previously reported, the single mom’s former fiancé, Ricky Hendrick, was a NASCAR driver who tragically died in a 2004 plane crash just before she was able to tell him that she was pregnant with his baby.
