Outraged host CHRIS HARRISON is ready to leave “The Bachelorette” over a “slut-shaming” scandal!
Chris is threatening producers with his resignation over how the show treated Kaitlyn Bristowe during its 11th season, a top TV insider told The National ENQUIRER.
The beauty from Vancouver is one of the most hated women in the show’s history and has become the subject of cyberbullying and death threats.
“They called Kaitlyn every name in the book after it came out that she may have had sex with her three final picks,” said the on-set source. “The Internet commenters even said she deserved to die!”
Chris went on the show to read messages directed to Kaitlyn that called her a “slut” and “whore” – before telling her: “I will take you as a role model for my kids over anyone who would be a cyberbully and spew that kind of hate!”
A source behind the scenes claimed that Chris, a 43-year-old divorced dad of two kids, blames producers for how they’re portraying Kaitlyn, 30.
“Chris believes the producers intentionally edited segments to make Kaitlyn look bad,” dished the insider.
There are also concerns that Chris “has the hots” for Kaitlyn – and is secretly thrilled over The ENQUIRER’s recent reports that Kaitlyn has already split with the man she chose at the end of this season.
“That would be great news for Chris,” said the source. “He’d like nothing better than to be Kaitlyn’s rebound man!”
Chris, meanwhile, insisted that he’s just “utterly disgusted” by how the show has presented Kaitlyn.
Added the insider: “If Chris walks, it’ll be the end of an era.
“He’s hosted ‘Bachelor’ since 2002, and ‘Bachelorette’ since 2003. He’ll be impossible to replace!”
