New dad ASHTON KUTCHER is reeling from a devastating family tragedy, The National ENQUIRER can exclusively reveal.
The mother of Ashton’s “favorite” nephew was found dead in her apartment on May 5, police have confirmed. It’s understood drugs could have been a factor in her sudden death.
“Ashton is beside himself over Melissa’s death,” said an insider.
“Her son Jackson is a favorite of Mila [Kunis] as well. He’s called her ‘Auntie Mila’ from the day they met.”
Melissa was married to Ashton’s twin brother, Michael, until their recent divorce.
The drama reached its climax when police in Sioux City, Iowa, received a phone call requesting a welfare check on Melissa, 34, who worked for the local newspaper.
“When the officer entered her apartment, she was dead on the scene,” the source said.
“There was no suicide note, and no foul play is suspected.”
The insider added: “With Mila and their baby girl Wyatt, this should be the happiest time in Ashton’s life. But Melissa’s death hit him like a ton of bricks.”
