BFFs Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens have graduated from High School Musical and gone their separate ways.
The once-inseparable Disney cuties are on the outs – and friends say that it’s because of Ashley’s new boyfriend!
Ashley has only been dating music video director Scott Speer for three months, yet he’s already micromanaging her career and image – and urging her to ditch her lily-white persona, say sources.
"Ashley and Vanessa barely hang out anymore and it’s because Ashley is totally consumed with Scott," an insider divulged.
"He’s taken on the role of unofficial career adviser and thinks Ashley needs to change things up and ditch her good-girl style. He doesn’t want Ashley hanging out with her HSM co-stars as much."
Now Vanessa feels like she’s lost her best friend – and she’s holding a grudge against Ashley’s new beau.
Tension between the former co-stars reached a fever pitch after Ashley beat out Vanessa to win the Breakthrough Performance – Female award at the MTV Movie Awards on May 31.
"Vanessa has been nothing but supportive of Ashley and her career, but now that things are taking off for her, Vanessa’s been left sitting on the sidelines," explained the insider.
Vanessa attempted to reach out to Ashley recently by inviting her on a girls-only trip to Hawaii. Ashley, however, ended up going to Hawaii with Scott instead.
"Ashley is pinning her career hopes on Scott’s plan," added the source.
"Unfortunately, the ‘new and improved’ Ashley doesn’t have much room left in her life for close friends like Vanessa."
