Get Smart star Anne Hathaway’s ex- BF has been arrested on wire fraud conspiracy and money laundering charges.
As The ENQUIRER.com previously reported Italian businessman Rafaello Follieri, who was dumped by Hathaway just last week, is accused of lying to an investor that the Vatican had appointed Follieri to manage its considerable financial affairs.
He allegedly claimed as a result of his Papal connections he and others could obtain sizable tracts of land belonging to the Catholic Church in the U.S.
Hathaway’s flack, Stephen Huvane, has stressed repeatedly that the Get Smart star is fairly smart herself for quickly distancing herself from Follieri. Anne is no longer affiliated with the board nor the charitable Follieri Foundation.
The foundation itself is being investigated by the New York State Attorney General’s office as part of its ongoing probe. The charity work allegedly provided vaccination to Third World countries.
