Eight years after ANNA NICOLE SMITH’s death from a lethal dose of pills, anguished family members remain convinced that a MURDER plot claimed the tragic diva’s life – and they want the death probe reopened!

The National ENQUIRER has learned people close to the case have assembled a dossier of explosive information and plan to present their findings – including bombshell evidence that details who killed the glamour girl in a Florida hotel room and why – to law enforcement.

And in a blockbuster disclosure that could crack the death mystery wide open, Anna Nicole’s half-sister, Amy Chapman, has declared: “It’s a strong possibility she was murdered!”

Amy and Anna Nicole’s other half-sister, Donna Hogan Cole, have begged cops to take a fresh look at the case – and The ENQUIRER has learned exclusively that Anna Nicole’s family could have reason to be alarmed.

In a series of sensational revelations uncovered during an exhaustive investigation by a team of ENQUIRER reporters – and published on the anniversary of her mysterious death on Feb. 8, 2007 – we can reveal:

Confidential informants believe that either a murderer staged Anna Nicole’s death as an overdose, or she was coerced into taking a lethal overdose;

The Guess clothing model became a pill-popping zombie in her final months;

The coroner’s report was possibly “faked”;

She received “a mysterious injection” before her death!

Our revelations are sure to come as a devastating blow to Anna Nicole’s 8-year-old daughter, Dannielynn.

Her former Playboy cover girl mom died at age 39 after collapsing in her room at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla. – still heartbroken over the passing of her son, Daniel, 20, just five months earlier.

“Her son passes away first, and then she passes away. I’m not sure how this plays out,” Amy said.

While Anna Nicole’s death was ultimately ruled an “accidental” drug overdose, her family believes the full truth surrounding her passing remains untold.

As Anna Nicole’s lawyer and boyfriend, Howard K. Stern was one of the last people to see her alive.

After her death, authorities concluded that eight of 11 drugs found in her body were prescribed to Stern – not her!

Stern, who was named executor of her nearly $2 million estate, was described by authorities as her “principal enabler,” and prosecuted for conspiracy in her death.

He was found guilty in 2010, and while the conviction was overturned, a recent ruling by a California court means Stern could face a retrial.

“In my opinion, Stern is an evil person,” Donna said. “I believe that instead of giving her the help she needed, he was an enabler to her.”

Anna Nicole’s ex-bodyguard, Maurice Brighthaupt, agreed, saying Stern bears “some responsibility” for her death.

“I think Howard made a mistake in trying to be a doctor,” he told The ENQUIRER.

For his part, Stern maintains his innocence.

His lawyer Steve Sadow told The ENQUIRER: “Howard is not facing and will not face any more questions over Anna’s death; Anna’s death was a tragic accident and Howard lost the love of his life when Anna passed.

“Howard was found not guilty by a jury of all but two minor charges, and both of those involved prescriptions put in Howard’s name by Anna’s doctor to protect Anna’s privacy. The California Supreme Court made it clear that Howard, and not the prosecution, has the right to seek a new trial on the remaining two charges, and Howard is confident that if he chooses to do so, the trial judge will grant a new trial.

“The rest of the allegations are from persons the public should deem unworthy of belief, and these same allegations have been shown to be unfounded and false time and time again,” Sadow added.

But in a world exclusive interview, an ex-assistant to Anna Nicole has charged that Stern supplied the Texas-born beauty with pills.

The star downed huge quantities of powerful pills at a time, and used a variety of fake names and physicians to ensure she’d never run low, according to Nathan Collins.

“Anna floated through the day on a sea of drugs,” Nathan said.

“She took handfuls of pills twice a day, and then injected even more drugs into her body. When she passed out, we had to make sure she didn’t choke.”

According to Nathan, Anna Nicole obtained prescription drugs under her own name and other names.

He recalled: “Anna used at least three doctors, and every few weeks a mysterious visitor delivered drugs to her behind a locked bedroom door. When she wanted more drugs, Anna ordered Stern or someone else to get them. She regularly took methadone, Vicodin, Xanax, Lexapro and Phenergan.

“She took Provigil, a stimulant, then smoked pot to bring her down.

“We were given instructions, both by Anna and Stern, that if she overdosed, we were not to call 911. We were to take Anna to the hospital, and get rid of the pills.”

On the last day of her life, Anna Nicole complained of feeling dizzy after sunbathing.

She returned to her hotel suite, and collapsed.

At the time, Stern was elsewhere, closing a deal on a yacht they had purchased.

A personal nurse found Anna Nicole at 1:38 p.m. She was pronounced dead on arrival at a nearby hospital at 2:49 p.m.

The ENQUIRER has learned video – captured on hotel surveillance cameras – shows a shadowy figure slipping into her room hours before she died.

People close to the case now want to know if the mystery person could have administered a deadly injection – or forced Anna Nicole to swallow a lethal dose of pills.

Said a source: “A murderer could have staged her death as an overdose!”

To Anna Nicole, that was plausible, said a friend.

Ford Shelley told The ENQUIRER: “She was in fear for her life.”

Anna Nicole’s fear was triggered by her battle to claim half of the $1.8 billion estate of her late hubby, oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall, said Ford, adding: “She was scared because she was fighting a huge family for a lot of money.

“Anna once told me, ‘If anything happens to me, I want you to take my computer and stop it from getting into the wrong hands.’ She seemed convinced something would happen to her.”
