Don’t mess with MY baby! ANGELA LANSBURY flips out about “Murder She Wrote,” re-do with Octavia Spencer.

“Angela thinks that Octavia is a fine actress,” said a source close to the 88-year-old Hollywood legend.

“She has no beef with Octavia, but Angela’s crushed that they’re bringing back the series without her.

She’d really hoped to return to fictional Cabot Cove, Maine, at least one more time for a TV movie.”

The original “Murder, She Wrote” starred Lansbury as crime-solving mystery writer Jessica Fletcher. It aired on CBS from 1984 to 1996 and drew close to 23 million viewers in its heyday.

Lansbury nabbed four Golden Globes for “Murder, She Wrote” and was also nominated for 12 Emmy Awards, but never won.

“Angela was extremely proud of the work she did,” said the source.

“Viewers still send fan mail and come up to her to say how much they loved her as Jessica Fletcher.”

The updated version will air on NBC and feature Octavia as a hospital administrator who doubles as an amateur sleuth and self-published mystery novelist caught up in real-life cases.

Ironically, Octavia, 43 – a Best Supporting Actress Oscar winner for 2011’s “The Help”– recently published a children’s book with a tough 12-year-old girl detective as the central character.

“Angela wishes Octavia all the best, but she thinks they should have left well enough alone,” said the source. “In her mind, the new ‘Murder, She Wrote’ could be a dud with no audience.”

Understandably, she’s upset about her “child”.

Angela told AP, “I think it’s a mistake to call it `Murder, She Wrote’ “because `Murder, She Wrote’ will always be about a Cabot Cove and this wonderful little group of people who told those lovely stories and enjoyed a piece of that place, and also enjoyed Jessica Fletcher, who is a rare and very individual kind of person …

“So I’m sorry that they have to use the title `Murder, She Wrote,’ even though they have access to it and it’s their right.”

Angela, chill out – NBC’s “Ironside” reboot with Blair Underwood tanked faster than you can say Raymond Burr.  .
