Murder, She Wrote legend’s opposition to reboot buries newbie launch.

The "Murder" reboot set to topline Oscar winner Octavia Spencer in the role made famous by Angela Lansbury, has been banished to the scarp heap despite getting a pilot order from NBC, Deadline.com reports.

As The ENQUIRER reported previously Angela Lansbury who starred as super-sleuth mystery writer  Jessica Fletcher on the original “Murder” that aired from 1984 to 1996 was livid about the reboot.

"I think it's a mistake to call it Murder, She Wrote because Murder, She Wrote will always be about Cabot Cove and this wonderful little group of people who told those lovely stories and enjoyed a piece of that place, and also enjoyed Jessica Fletcher, who is a rare and very individual kind of person," Lansbury said.

Lansbury also wasn’t keen to have Spencer, 43, play her role.

It garnered Angela 12 consecutive Emmy nominations.

She didn't win once.
