EXCLUSIVE ENQUIRER COVERAGE: New Superman movie AND MORE!

Yup, the New York ComiCon a cavalcade of gaming, movies, animation and super-hero faves opened for a three-day extravaganza of American pop at its finest. Here’s a taste:

  • TV icons Robert Culp and William Katt (The Greatest American Hero) were promo-ing a new comic adaptation of the beloved show.  Katt confessed he had to audition for Hollywood/B’way legend Bob Fosse "multiple times" before landing the musical Pippin on Broadway with Ben Vereen and Chita Rivera
  • I Spy‘s Culp found our "big blue pen" after it went MIA. Demon With a Glass Hand!
  • SPOILER: In the new GAH comic someone finds the manual to the alien super suit and it’s not Ralph Hinckley!
  •
  • Meanwhile . . .
  •
  • Wrestling icon Jerry "The King" Lawler who once bested oddball comedian Andy Kauffman in the media actually began his career as a cartoonist!

"The ENQUIRER is my favorite magazine," the Memphis superstar divulged before jetting off to a grudge match in Kentucky with "Psycho" Sid Vicious.  The King has a "good relationship" with WWE kingpin Vince McMahon and there’s talk Jerry will be grappling in the next Wrestlemania.

  • DC Comics publisher Paul Levitz whispered to us the status of the NEW SUPERMAN film, "Nothing officially announced…yet."

Levitz also revealed Mad "the magazine that changed the world" – now a quarterly – will "challenge the next platform for irreverence."  What me webby?

  • Legion flight rings coming?!

A Marvel Comics intern handing out freebies of Stephen King‘s The Dark Tower hid her copy of competitor DC’s Watchmen beneath the pile, gushing "I can’t wait to see that movie!"

  •  Collector’s Item Classic: Nick Fury eye patch give away!
  •
  • Near the video game section enthusiasts tested their mettle as US ARMY reps waited patiently, hoping to recruit teen gamers.

"Call to Action? Iraq?  What’s the difference," C.K. told us confidentially. "It’s ALL fun and games – until they start shooting back at you."

America’s Greatest Heroes – one and all.
