Suicidal Alexa Ray Joel suffers from psychological demons not unlike those of dad Billy Joel, sources say.
On Saturday The ENQUIRER reported Alexa was rushed to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Greenwich Village not far from her Bethune Street abode after a frantic 911 call saying reportedly she "Took pills…wanted to die".
Cops say she took 8 pills believed to be sleeping pills. Both parents Billy and mom Christie Brinkley say daughter Alexa is out of the hospital.
It is suspected that the demise of Alexa’s a tumultuous relationship with bandmate Jimmy Riot, may have sparked the near-death incident after months of mounting depression and ennui.
Alexa was scheduled to perform at two events in Manhattan this week that have now been canceled.
"Alexa suffers from similar artistic demons to her dad. She loves fiercely, works super hard and is very difficult on herself," a source told FoxNews.com.
"She is sensitive and caring and she took some of the stress of her father’s relationship ending with Katie Lee and her mother’s trial against Peter Cook and internalized some of that. It’s difficult for her to navigate living her semi-public life from her parent’s fame.
"Adding the breakup with Jimmy to all that and it has been a lot for her to manage."
