In direct contrast to her girl next door image, few fans knew that the perky Brenda had a devastating drug problem - dropping acid in her youth to snorting cocaine in the restroom of her young son's school.

But the last straw was when Carlisle locked herself in a London hotel room in 2005 and then binged for 3 days straight on heaping mounds of the white powder.

"Writing about the addiction was painful and creepy at times," Belinda admitted.

"The biggest shock for most people that didn't realize that it went on for so long. They just assumed that I got cleaned after the Go-Go's," Carlisle confessed.
