ISAIAH BOOTED OFF'GREY'S ANATOMY'
Plus Other Shockers From The Season Finale

It's a bloodbath on "Grey's
Anatomy!"
Controversial star Isaiah
Washington is getting the boot,
but he's not the only one leaving the
show - and The ENQUIRER has all
the details of the series' shocking season
finale.
If you don't want to know what's
on tap for the staff at Seattle Grace
Hospital, stop reading...STAT!
The ENQUIRER has learned exclusively
that T.R. Knight and Kate Walsh
will also check out of the hit ABC
medical drama in the blockbuster
season-ender airing May 17.
While the
show's creative
team is
still tinkering
with last-minute
changes,
an insider declared:
"This
season finale is
by far the most
exciting and
dramatic 'Grey's'
show ever!
"The writers
have put together
a series of
plot twists that
will leave fans
shocked."
Rumors that
Isaiah would get
dumped have
been swirling
since last fall after
he got into an on-set brawl with co-star Patrick
Dempsey and hurled a vicious gay
slur at T.R. - a story first reported by
The ENQUIRER. T.R. later came out
of the closet, revealing publicly that
he is gay.
At January's Golden Globes, 43-year-old Isaiah threw fuel on the fire
by denying the slur. After an avalanche
of bad publicity, he announced he was
enrolling in
counseling.
The incidents created hostility on
the "Grey's" set - and in the finale's
most explosive twist, Isaiah's character
Dr. Preston Burke is passed
over for the hospital's chief of
surgery job and storms out of
his wedding to Dr. Cristina Yang
(Sandra Oh).
As for T.R. Knight, his character
Dr. George O'Malley finds that
he failed his final exam to become
a doctor - and decides not to repeat
his internship.
"Isaiah's exit isn't surprising,"
explained the insider.
"And T.R. never really got
over the gay slur incident and
was very disappointed with
the way it was handled.
"Producers begged him to
stay and they've left the door
open for his return. But, right
now, he has no intention of
coming back."
Fans already know Kate's
character, Dr. Addison
Montgomery, will star in
a "Grey's" spin-off. She'll
head to Santa Monica,
Calif., to work at an upscale
wellness center
in a series tentatively
titled "Private
Practice."
Meanwhile,
Chief of Surgery
Dr. Richard
Webber (James
T. Pickens) gets
the shock of his
life when his estranged wife is wheeled into the OR,
pregnant and bleeding. And he's certain
he's not the father!
After Dr. Burke storms out of his wedding,
Dr. Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo)
delivers a heartfelt speech.
"She points out that although doctors
are good at fixing patients' problems,
they don't know how to repair their own
relationships," a network source told The
ENQUIRER.
Meredith nurses her own heartache
when Dr. Derek Shepherd (Patrick
Dempsey) announces that he's had enough
of their on-again, off-again relationship -
and confesses there may be another woman
in his life!
Two riveting medical-themed stories will
also play out in the season-ending episode.
"Dr. Alex Karev (Justin Chambers) will
learn the real identity of a pregnant Jane
Doe when her husband shows up," said the
network source.
"And Dr. Shepherd will discover that a
mountain climber who was brought to the
hospital with an ice axe lodged in his head
was not the victim of a freak accident, as his
friends say, but foul play."
And while Dr. O'Malley cleans out his
locker, he may be leaving something
behind.
"Before he goes, his wife Dr. Callie
Torres (Sara Ramirez) convinces him that
they should start trying to have a baby,"
disclosed the network source.
"So, they do try...right there in the on-call
sleeping room!"
As the episode ends, Dr. Webber appoints
Dr. Shepherd to replace him as chief of surgery,
"but he warns Derek not to make the
same mistakes he did, such as putting his
job before his personal life," disclosed the
network source.
"Derek tells Richard he's flattered, but
feels that Richard is still the best man for
the job - and tells him that he should stay
on."
