Now that Star Jones has lost her place
on "The View" couch, Joy Behar is
looking to get rid of another of
her co-hosts — perky blonde Elisabeth
Hasselbeck.
"Joy thinks Elisabeth's a phony,"
a source close to the show told The
ENQUIRER. "She says it makes her sick
to watch Elisabeth get on her soapbox.
Joy makes fun of her behind her back,
sticking her finger down her throat like
she's retching!"
On-the-set fireworks were recently
ignited between Joy, 62, and Elisabeth,
31, when Joy took issue with the younger
co-host's conservative views regarding
the over-the-counter availability of the
"morning after" birth control pill.
When Elisabeth, an outspoken
Republican, compared taking the pill to
"birthing a baby and leaving it out in the
street," Joy had heard enough.
"So you would say that a 12-year-old girl
... who's been raped by her father or her
uncle should proceed to term because
that's 'a life'?" Joy snapped.
"Elisabeth almost became unglued at
that point," said one observer.
"She started to yell at Joy until Barbara
Walters said: 'Elisabeth, calm down, dear.'
"Elisabeth responded: 'I can't! This
makes me so upset, Barbara.'"
When a pal recently asked Joy what
she thought of the former "Survivor" contestant
— who's married to Giants backup
quarterback Tim Hasselbeck — the pal says
she quipped: "Barbara likes her, but if it
was up to me, I'd vote her off 'The View.'"
