Jessica Simpson already got rid of one main man in
her life and now she's quickly distancing herself from
another.
After jettisoning (and paying off) husband Nick
Lachey, the 26-year-old blonde is continuing to break
away from her controlling manager father Joe Simpson.
During a trip to Universal Studios with her mom and dad,
the singer was giving an interview and noticed a nearby
group of cheering, waving fans. When she went to greet them,
"Joe flipped out," said a source. "Jessica totally ignored him.
She posed and signed autographs. Her mother even took her
side. Her mother told Jess: 'You go girl!' and then told Joe: 'Leave
her alone. They're her fans.'"
Jessica has also been feuding with her
father over her choice of boyfriends. He has
not approved of any of the guys she's dated
including Dane Cooke, Jared Leto and her
latest love John Mayer. (The ENQUIRER
broke the story about Jessica's secret
romance with Mayer in a cover story two
weeks ago.)
According to the source: "She recently
told him, 'Dad, I'm capable of making my
own choices. If I need your opinion, I have all your numbers!'
"Joe was shocked. He just wants what all Dads want — for his kid
to be happy. Joe is a worrier, and he doesn't want Jessica to settle
for the first guy she's with. That's why they're clashing.
"But Jessica wants to have fun right now — and her dad just can't
seem to stop meddling."
