Jessica Simpson is running herself ragged with a heavy workload — and friends fear she could burn out. Between working on films, music, television and charity projects 25-year-old Jessica is running on empty.

She is now wrapping up shooting for the upcoming movie, Employee Of The Month. She is overseeing her beauty and fashion lines and she's also putting the finishing touches to an album due out in May.

The Pizza Hut pitchwoman has been plugging ProActiv skin care products and traveling to Washington, D.C., to promote her charity, Operation Smile. One pal of the star said: "She's looking really gaunt and thin. In the past Jessica leaned heavily on her estranged husband Nick Lachey for support. What Jess desperately needs is a vacation."

Jessica has also been troubled by the March 23 birth of Nick's brother Drew and Lea Lachey's baby. A friend said this made Jessica realize how "empty" her life is now.
