A heartbreaking family
secret has marred
the happiness of
Brad and Angelina.
As the Tomb Raider
beauty should have
been enjoying the lead-up to becoming
Mrs. Pitt, she has been
tormented by her mother's battle
with cancer, say insiders.
Mom Marcheline Bertrand has
been hospitalized with the disease —
and Angelina flew to hold a bedside
vigil for her, says a family friend.
"Angelina is worried sick about
her mom," said the friend. "Everything
else in Angie's life is perfect.
She's excited about being married
and raising a family with Brad. But
her mom's cancer hangs like a dark
cloud over everything."
The National Enquirer can reveal
Marcheline has privately been battling
cancer for years. But the friend
says the 55-year-old former actress's
health recently took a turn for the
worse and she underwent an operation
at a Los Angeles hospital.
An insider there said the latest
procedure is the second time in two
years Marcheline — who was married
to Angelina's estranged dad actor
Jon Voight from 1971 to 1978 — has
had to undergo surgery for cancer.
