Julia Roberts flew more
than 1,100 miles to cry on
the shoulder of a close
male friend over her
troubled marriage. The
Pretty Woman star made
the overnight trip on a private jet —
and husband Danny Moder was
nowhere in sight!
The secret flight from Julia's ranch
in Taos, New Mexico, to Seattle,
Wash., came as The National
Enquirer revealed her three-year
marriage was on the rocks.
Julia, 38, who travelled with just
one of her twins, was collected from
her plane at lunchtime on October
17 by longtime friend Joel Clement,
who was celebrating his 40th birthday
that day.
Her cameraman husband Danny,
36, was said to be away working on
location on a movie. Sources say
their other twin was unwell at home
with the nanny.
"Julia felt so alone and she needed
a shoulder to cry on. Who better
than one of her best male friends?"
said a family insider.
After greeting Julia, environmental
activist Clement carried her baby
to his car, an ageing green BMW,
and they drove to his small, very
modest detached house in a tough,
blue collar suburb.
It is understood they spent the
day together. But there was no sign
of the actress when Clement arrived
at The County Line Lounge and
Restaurant at 9 pm to celebrate
with a group of friends.
