THE LONG ARM OF THE LAW
Cedric McCants is a one-man crime wave!
In what may be a world record, the career criminal's rap sheet is an amazing 77 feet long.
You read that right – his rap sheet is nearly eight stories tall!
"It's astonishing. It's by far the longest I've seen in all my 22 years as a cop," Detective Lt. Raymond Cote told The ENQUIRER.
"Usually the rap sheets I see are three to five pages long. This guy's rap sheet is 93 pages long. It's just mindboggling."
Police in Nassau County, N.Y., most recently busted 52-year-old McCants on Jan. 14 and charged him with four counts of burglary.
Astonishingly, it was his 99th arrest! His life of crime dates back to 1971, when he was arrested at the age of 16 for armed robbery.
Since then, he's faced 197 charges, including eight for burglary, seven for robbery, 37 for larceny and 35 for possession of stolen property. He's been convicted 78 times for a variety of crimes.
"Mr. McCants is a walking crime wave," says Nassau County Police Commissioner Lawrence Mulvey.
McCants has served 15 different jail sentences, some of which were no longer than six months. His longest was four years.
"Usually, when he's in jail, he behaves himself. But when he gets out, he steals. He's a professional burglar. It's all he knows," Lt. Cote told The ENQUIRER.
