NFL legend BUBBA SMITH, best remembered as Officer Hightower in the Police Academy films is dead at 66.

LA County coroner's spokesman Ed Winter said Bubba was found dead at his Baldwin Hills home. As of yet, Winter said he didn't know the exact circumstances of cause of death.

Police spokesman Richard French said the death does not appear to be suspicious.

The top overall pick in the 1967 draft after a sensational career at Michigan State, the towering 6-foot-7 Smith spent five seasons with the Baltimore Colts and two seasons each with Oakland and Houston.

Leading the Colts, they lost to Joe Namath and the New York Jets in Super Bowl 3 in 1969 but captured the 1971 Super Bowl two years later.

Turning to acting, Smith was famous for  playing Moses Hightower, the soft-spoken officer who could flip a car in the long running "Police Academy" series.

He also appeared in such television series as "Good Times," "Charlie's Angels," "Half Nelson" "Blue Thunder", and "Taxi" among others.

Smith was also featured in the Miller Lite commercials as retired players battled over the suds  — whether it “Tasted great!” or was “Less Filling!”
