CBS announced that Britney Spears will be returning to the sitcom How I Met Your Mother in the role of sassy assistant Abby.

Brit's first appearance drew over 10.6 million viewers and garnered the troubled pop tart positive reviews.

The show will be air May 12 during sweeps and is being shot this week in L.A.

Speculation is rife that Spears is veering into acting not only as a career re-builder but to show mental stability in her custody battle with K-Fed.
