Natasha Richardson died of blunt impact to the head, according to the New York City medical examiner's office.

The death was ruled an accident and the cause of death is listed as "epidural hematoma due to blunt impact to the head," says medical examiner spokeswoman Ellen Borakove.

The Tony Award-winning actress fell during a ski lesson in Canada on Monday. Initially, Natasha said she felt fine and, according to a paramedic called to the scene, an ambulance was turned away.

Later she developed a headache and was taken to the hospital. Husband Liam Neeson rushed to her side and then had her transported to New York City where friends and relatives said their last goodbyes.

Funeral arrangements are being made.
