EVEL KNIEVEL DEAD AT 69


Motorcycle daredevil Evel Knievel died Friday, Nov. 30, in Florida. He was 69. Knievel, who was immortalized in Washington's Smithsonian Institution as "America's Legendary Daredevil," had been suffering from diabetes and pulmonary fibrosis. He had a live transplant in 1999. Knievel is best known for his failed attempt to jump Snake River Canyon on a rocket-powered cycle at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas in 1974.
