Brave Delta Burke Confined To A Wheelchair

Delta burke ne short

Tragic Delta Burke is trapped in a wheelchair after battling obesity and mental illness!

The two-time Emmy nominee, 59, was recently spotted with her actor husband, Gerald McRaney, wheeling herself up to an airline counter at Los Angeles International Airport and looking happier and much slimmer than she has in the past.

Still, the former “Designing Women” brunette is plagued by physical problems.

“Delta’s never fully recovered from a nasty fall she took on the set of her TV pilot, ‘Counter Culture,’ in 2012,” said a source close to the actress. “Her accident led to Delta’s comeback series being scrapped — and she hasn’t worked much since.”

Delta was honest about the dry spell, saying that there was “no work on the horizon,” but adding, “Everything is fine, I’m just not very exciting right now!”

The former Miss Florida certainly made waves in the past.

Delta, who has battled weight problems for decades, was fired from “Designing Women” in 1991 after tipping the scale at 215 pounds.

Then, in 2006, she was co-starring on ABC’s “Boston Legal” when she was hit by crippling depression, panic attacks and a compulsive hoarding disorder.

In 2008, she checked into a psychiatric hospital.

She was making a comeback on “Counter Culture,” an ABC sitcom about sisters running a West Texas diner, but production was suspended when she fell on the set — and the pilot was not picked up.

Still, Delta got strong support from her 68-year-old husband, Gerald.

“Mac loves me no matter what,” she noted. “He loved me when I got as big as a house. He loved me when I was a blonde. He didn’t tell me he hated it (being blonde) until I went back to brunette. “He still thinks my body looks great — and I can certainly tell you it does not!”

But brave Delta keeps rolling along!
