Defense for accused murder mom CASEY ANTHONY stuns the world with bombshell claim – her daughter CAYLEE drowned in family pool — and then Casey lied about it!
In opening statements, defense attorney Jose Baez said Anthony never reported Caylee missing because she was never missing.
"We're not here to talk about how inappropriate Casey acted," Baez said.
"We're here to find out exactly how Caylee died. That's the key issue throughout this entire case."
Baez said it is not a case of murder or child abuse.
He then described alleged sexual abuse Casey Anthony had suffered at the hands of her father George Anthony.
At the beginning of his statement, Baez promised to tell jurors exactly what happened, saying it has lot to do with meter reader Roy Kronk who found Caylee’s remains!
As The ENQUIRER reported previously Kronk discovered the child’s remains in the very same area where a very thorough search had been conducted.
In pre-trial testimony volunteers were deposed and had said that they had not found any traces of the then-missing Caylee.
Casey’s father George Anthony denied claims of abuse on the witness stand today. George Anthony also told jurors that Caylee didn't die at his house.
Baez also claimed that Casey's brother made advances toward her and was given a paternity test to see if he was Caylee's father.
All these secrets eventually led to the cover up of Caylee's drowning, Baez told the jury.
"You will hear about a family that is dysfunctional," Baez said.
"Ugly things. Secret things."
